Study, documentation and interpretative mapping of the establishment and functions of various networks developed in Greece, from prehistoric times to the present day. Targeted studies were produced - from the entire spectrum of Greek history - of selected and characteristic networks of inland and maritime communications, economic networks, networks formed by secular and religious institutions, and networks of knowledge and culture.

All these individual studies resulted in documentation of such networks, their interpretative mapping, and the creation of a basic research infrastructure for the study of the establishment and functions of the region of Greece. The networks resulting from the targeted studies are displayed on a freely available digital, multi-thematic atlas, through an on-line platform that makes it possible not only to reuse the data, but also for the user to freely navigate by selecting the territory and period of time.

The researchers of the Institute of Historical Research and the partners of the project produced, for the first time and with a common vision, uniform research results on the different aspects of Greek culture throughout time. Part of the results of the project were presented at an international scientific conference held in December 2015, with the participation of prominent Greek and foreign scientists.

Benefits: For the first time, evidence from the entire span of Greek history was studied and accurately mapped in a dynamic atlas from one single perspective. There were 42 scientific studies and more than 33 scientific publications.
