The new OASA Telematics System ensures timely and accurate information for passengers on mass transit routes and, at the same time, assists in improved fleet management and supervision of the transportation work of OSY. The subject of the project included studying, financing, installation and operation - including maintenance and technical management - of a Fleet Management and Passenger Information System (Telematics System) for buses and trolleys. The Telematics System will be utilised by OASA and OSY, whose goal will be optimising the performance and quality of the transportation provided and related services.
Informing of urban public transport users is also achieved through a corresponding application which, through smart devices (mobile phones, tablets, computers), will provide information on the positions of the vehicles on each selected line, on a map, the arrival of the next vehicle, the nearest stop to the user, as well as the optimal route that can be taken by the individual concerned so they can schedule their trip early, without wasting time waiting at bus stops.
Benefits: Passengers will be informed of the exact transit time of vehicles on all lines passing through the stops as well as with regard to the overall functioning of the network, with emergency messages Furthermore, management of routes will be carried out from OASA control centres in real time, resulting in improved coordination, management, and supervision of the transport project.
