The Mediterranean Coast and Macro-regional Strategies Week which will take place from 14 to 25 September 2020, mainly online is one of the main events of the Slovenian presidency to the EUSAIR strategy. You can follow the events under the hashtag #SloPresidencyEUSAIR.
The aim of the week is not only to raise awareness of the importance of the sea, the coast and its hinterland, of the natural resources and economic potential they represent, but also to outline risks to which the sea and the coast are exposed due to natural phenomena and human actions.
COVID-19 revealed in a most brutal manner what happens if we lock ourselves behind regional and national borders instead of working together for joint solutions. Macro-regional strategies aim to make macro-regions, and thus the whole of Europe stronger, more resilient and more attractive to live in, everywhere and for all. So this year we will address also macro-regional cooperation in tourism recovery, green infrastructure as basis for European food production, macro-regional contribution to implementation of Green Deal and smart specialisation of the region. The events, that will this year be held online, provide an opportunity to bring together practitioners, experts and the general public from the Baltic, Danube, Adriatic-Ionian and Alpine macro-regions and to discuss most important challenges of today and tomorrow and other macro-regional challenges as well as the cross macro-regional exchange.
